Govin's Lamb Farm

On our way back from the cities visiting my sister and family, the kids and I decided to stop at Govin's Lamb Farm to see the animals. Blake and I were the only ones who wanted to hold a lamb, but Blake and Bennett both LOVED picking up the chicks. Blake also held a 3 day old piglet, and another batch of piglets was being born while we were there. So cute! We also were lucky enough to see the birth of a lamb while we were there. Marlee was very fascinated by all of the animals, sounds, and smells. She kept saying, "Mom, what is that smell?" and "Stinky." Perhaps next year she will be brave enough to hold some of the animals. We got a ride back to our car on the horse-drawn wagon, and Blake and Bennett were lucky enough to ride up front and hold the reigns!

Destination Imagination

For the past couple of months, Blake and some of his classmates have been working on a mission for the Destination Imagination (DI)program. DI is a program where students are chosen by their teachers to participate in a creative thinking mission with their peers. They practiced once a week after school, putting their ideas together before the tournament, which was held last weekend in Baldwin, WI. The mission for Blake's group was called Animal Mish-Mash. The team had to choose 2 animals and combine them into 1 animal. They had to then make up a skit about their animal and also have a model of the animal. The animal that Blake and his team came up with was called the Sharkinoceros- a shark and a rhinoceros. The team did an amazing job working together and creatively showing the judges what special features their sharkinoceros had. Pictured below is Blake and his team (The Rockstars) following their performance for the judges.
