The Elk is Back

Upon returning from our trip out to Utah (pictures to come soon), Randy received a phone call that his elk mount was ready to be picked up from the taxidermist. I must say it looks a lot bigger than I had anticipated. The real dilemma was where we were going to find room big enough to fit it on the wall! Luckily our good friend Kyle came over one evening to assist us in figuring out where it should go and helping hoist it up on the wall. We found a place in the corner of our addition to the left of the fireplace.

Pool on the Deck

We checked off one of our Summer Must-Do List items this week-- filling up the kiddie pool. The boys had fun splashing around and having a picnic lunch on their towels.

Blake's Last Tball Game

Blake had his last tball game of the season on Monday. He was excited to be the "pitcher" again as that is the position that gets to touch the ball a lot while on defense. Randy helped out the coaches this year as well and can be seen giving Blake some advice in one of the pictures. It was a great season, and Blake had fun making new friends. We look forward to playing again next year!

Marlee is 7 Months Old!

Marlee is 7 months old today! She FINALLY popped that tooth through on the bottom. Now we think that other bottom tooth is working its way through. Marlee is getting really good at scooting around on her belly and has better balance sitting up this month. We just LOVE this little girl to pieces!

7 Years

Today, Randy and I celebrate 7 years of marriage. A lot has happened in the last 7 years- 3 children, job changes, etc. Every year just keeps getting better, and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead in the next year! I love you, Randy!

Summer "Must Do" List

Well, today officially marks the first day of our summer vacation, as it is Blake's first day with no school. We sat down this morning and started forming our Summer "Must Do" List. We wanted to include some new adventures or activities that we "must do" before Blake heads back to school this fall. Some things on our list include: *Lemonade stand in Mondovi- have to do this one in town as I am sure we wouldn't get much business out in the boondocks:) * Make/deliver cards for patients at the hospital or nursing home- good rainy day activity * Go to the Children's Musuem * Visit the Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN * Have a picnic at a park * Tye Dye something * Go to a drive-in movie. These are just a few of the ideas we came up with. If everything on our list is completed before the end of summer, we will keep adding more items. I will try to document our adventures on the blog if I can. Happy Summer!

New Additions

This past weekend we added 2 new members to our family. Blake's teacher, Ms. Falkner, had some kittens that she was looking for some new homes for. We told her that we would gladly take 2 kittens when they were ready to leave their mommy. Friday was the big day. We drove to Blake's school to pick them up. Blake's kitten (striped male one) is named Stripes (Stripe for short), and Bennett's kitten (white female calico) is named Chocolate Chip (Chocolate for short.) The first few days we kept them in a makeshift pen in the garage when we weren't with them. By Sunday they were staying around the yard even when we were inside. Hopefully they will catch some mice for us in the years to come! The boys have really enjoyed watching them wrestle, just like they do:)! The kittens have also mastered climbing the screen door on our deck (see picture). We might have to do something about that :)

Blake's Last Day of 4K

It's hard to imagine that the school year is already done! Blake had his last day of 4K today. They had an adorable program at school. They sang songs, received their "diplomas" from the principal, and showed us a picture slideshow of their school year. Below Blake is pictured with his teacher, Ms. Falker; his friend, Nicholas; getting on the 4K bus one last time; and a self portrait. The scrapbook page that is in the picture was a gift from Ms. Falkner-- so cute! I also included a picture from his first day of school so you can see how he has grown-- 2 whole inches since the beginning of the year! Blake said that some of his highlights of the year were going on a field trip to the Children's Museum, playing with his friends, and having a nice teacher!

Electric Run

This past weekend Marlee and I ( Yes, it was just the girls!) headed over to the twin cities to see my sister and her family. A few months ago Jessi and I signed up for the Electric Run that was taking place at the fairgrounds in St. Paul, MN. What is the Electric Run you might be asking yourself? Well, it is a 5K Fun Run that starts when the sun goes down. You're encouraged to wear as much glow-in-the-dark apparel as possible. Along the run course there are AMAZING light up scenes-- light up umbrellas hanging from trees, archways lit up in a rainbow of colors, etc. It was by far the coolest run that I have ever been a part of. Unfortunately we did not get any pics of the scenes during the race, but we did snap this one before we ran. I would definitely do this race again. The colors made it memorable, but even more memorable was being able to complete this run with my sis!
